Now, if you see this warning, your first instinct might be to freak out. “Your homepage cannot be indexed by search engines” is an alarming message to see.
Instead of freaking out, take a deep breath. I’ll walk you through what to do next.
First, it’s unlikely that you saw this message in your dashboard. I’m guessing you probably saw it floating around Facebook or Twitter tied to an article with an anxiety-inducing title. When you actually log into your WordPress site, you should see something like this:
Right below that, you’ll see another message from our friends at Yoast.
See that blue link that says “click here to recalculate the SEO scores”? Click that. Yoast will do its thing, and you’ll be all set.
See? I told you there was no reason to freak out.
Now, if your results come back and your indexability or SEO scores still suck, then you can stress, but only a little.
Consider your options. You can ignore the problem (which I don’t recommend), you can fix the issues yourself, or you can hire someone like me to help you out. Remember, you’re in control, you have choices, and it’s not the end of the world.
